APEC 2012 - Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation
The first day of the 20th APEC ministerial meeting comes to close in Vladivostok, Russia. Support for multilateral trade systems, trade and investment liberalization and regional economic integration were on the agenda.
As to the choice of Vladivostok for the 24th business summit, Russia's foreign minister Sergey Lavrov and who took over APEC's chairmanship for 2012 dismissed concerns that Russia's focus of foreign interest shifted to the east.
Lavrov said the development of the Far East and Siberian Federal District are the priorities of Russia’s regional development. Some work in this field will be done together with the Chinese partners, who’ve been one of the key regional investors in Russia’s East.
