Khamenei Funeral - Millions of Mourners Expected


Despite widespread discontent with the nation's current situation among the people of Iran, funeral celebrations for Ayatollah Ali Khamenei will attract millions of mourners.

The body of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei lay in state in a vast hall in Tehran on Friday as clerics, officials, foreign dignitaries and other mourners paid their respects to Iran's late Supreme Leader, slain by U.S. and Israeli bombs. Iran is staging a week of mass funeral processions for Khamenei, with millions of mourners expected to participate.

Leaders and officials from more than 100 countries [Al-Jazeera] are expected to attend, including those from Russia, Pakistan and China.

Pakistan, Tajikistan, Armenia and Georgia are sending their heads of state. Senior government leaders from Turkiye, India, China, Russia, Afghanistan and Bangladesh will represent their countries.
