Eager to learn more about Trump's justification for his war on Iran, I decided to stay awake tonight, and now, I am really feeling pity for all those US citizens forced to regularly hear such kind of Whisked Bullshit from an immature guy impersonating some respectable US President.

He started with one of his usual stances of having “taken over a crippled country“ from his predecessors in office and having “built economy like never seen before“, only within one year. And “we have gas and oil, more than we need, and the world should buy from us“.

What I didn't hear for example, was something about the gigantic monoculture of soybeans planted by US farmers in the Middle-West, intended to be sold on the Chinese market. While their East Asian trade partners ordered 500 million tons the year before, they are going to purchase only 80 million tons in 2026. Maybe the news of a record harvest in Brazil have made them change their minds. And those who will be suffering from economic backlash would be just these unshakeable supporters of Trump's MAGA movement. However, some of them might remember on election day ...

As to Iran, “we had to take that little journey“ because they tried to threaten the US with their unbroken will to grab nuclear weapons for more than fourty years, and nobody before him (Trump) having even tried to stop them. As to the enriched Uranium, still in Iran's possession, I didn't hear a single word about its handing over to the US.

Trump boasted that “we have had regime change, as none of their leaders are alive by now“.

Even the duration of that war on Iran should be seen as exemplary: “Only 32 days compared with World War II or the Korean War“.

Trump added that the next two or three weeks are now essential for ending “Iran's sinister threat“ targeting the world. But the US are “now very close to finishing the job“. All that leaves the impression of a US president who is simply unable to handle the situation he has gotten into under the pressure of some Israeli hardliners to whom The Jewish World is Not Enough.

Currently, China seems to have no problems to get its oil through the Strait of Hormuz. Two tankers, that had to interrupt their passage after Iran issued a warning, are now on their way to China. There are even rumours that earlier reported 'passage tariffs' are either being waved for now or completely taken from the agenda.

Furthermore, Iran insists that any passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz is only a matter concerning Iran and Oman. This is a point worth to receive attention, because Iran is in control of the northern coast of Hormuz while its southern coast belongs to Oman, a fact that could easily be overlooked as borders between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Oman are rarely known to people who are now attracted by the consequences of a global crisis.

Strait of Hormuz - Safe Passage Guarantee Threatened

Overnight, it became clear that Iran's guarantee given to certain countries for a free passage through the Strait of Hormuz cannot be assured any longer. Two Chinese oil tankers had to stop and return after Iran issued a warning. At the moment it is not quite clear, if there is further escalation, possibly involving ships from enemy countries trying to pass as well.

Information saying that Saudi-Arabia's pipeline is now running at
7 million barrel per day has been confirmed by different sources.

US paratroopers deployed by USS Tripoli, a light aircraft carrier, are probably intended to invade three tiny Iranian islands near the Strait of Hormuz to get the sea passage under US control. The oil installations of Khargh Island in the Persian Gulf are a rather unlikely target as US losses would be significant there.

	US losses confirmed for US aerial refuelling planes, an AWACS early warning plane at Prince Sultan base in Saudi Arabia, and damage inflicted on aircraft carrier USS Gerald Ford that made it necessary to take the warship out for repair near Crete. US president Trump has recently acknowledged the fact.

From targeting Iran's nuclear program to hinting at regime change, Donald Trump keeps moving the goal posts for the US military campaign against Iran. The conflict lacks a clear legal basis under international law, experts say.

The United Nations Charter prohibits threats or the use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of another state, except in two cases:

First, the UN can authorize collective security measures to protect people. This occurred after Iraq invaded Kuwait in 1990. The UN Security Council passed a resolution giving member states legal authority to use force to help Kuwait.

Second is self defence, which George W. Bush invoked after the 9/11 attacks in 2001 to justify the invasion of Afghanistan to "dismantle terrorist networks."

But do these exceptions apply to the joint US-Israeli strikes on Iran? And if not, could US President Donald Trump's choosing to go to war without a clear legal basis mark a turning point for the international order?

Reuters quoted Iranian news agency Tasnim as reporting that Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed to have launched the first wave of missile and drone offensives against Israel in response. Some personnel were reported to have evacuated from the U.S. Udeid Air Force Base in Qatar, the largest U.S. military facility in the Middle East with about 10,000 officers and soldiers. In addition, the British Embassy in Doha recommended that British citizens in Qatar take refuge in place.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a statement stating that the goal of the joint U.S.-Israeli operation is to "eliminate the existential threat posed by the Iranian regime" and emphasized that Iran must not possess nuclear weapons. He said the operation would "create the conditions for the Iranian people to take control of their own destiny".
