Egypt Worried about Iranian Influence

Update included later on February 13.

After their takeover of power in Yemen, the Houthis are being warned by Egypt's prime minister that his country would not allow Houthi control of the Almond Gate (Bab al-Mandeb) shipping passage in the Red Sea. The Bab-el-Mandeb strait is located between Yemen on the Arabian Peninsula, and Djibouti and Eritrea in the Horn of Africa. It connects the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden and is an essential access to the Suez Canal in Egypt.

In a caricature, published by Mandab Press مندب برس and which seems to be a local Yemenite news service, the subject was already mentioned on February 2, 2015. That caricature shows a Houthi rolling out the red carpet for an Iranian ayatollah towards Bab al-Mandeb.
